We're Hiring: Head of Sales

Posted 02 October 2020

£55-65K - East London

Selling beer isn’t the easiest job in the world right now.

What if you could do it your way?

Put your own ideas into motion. Lead by example.

Join Truman’s in this new role and you’ll have the freedom to design and run your very own sales function. Working alongside an enthusiastic MD, you’ll be a huge part of some positive changes planned for 2021.

If you’re as ambitious as Truman’s, this could be the defining job in your career – and potentially a stepping stone to a Sales Director role here in future.

There’s so much to achieve. First, a quick history lesson. Founded in 1666. Grew to be the world’s largest brewer. Closed in 1989 (dark days for the brewing industry). Re-opened in 2010 and now reinvigorated by new leadership.

Truman’s aren’t letting the pandemic slow them down – they’ve just opened the UK’s largest socially distanced pub and beer garden and in early 2021 they’re launching a rebrand and opening their new E17 brewery.

You’ll inherit plenty of momentum, a team that believes in doing things differently and the resources you need to do the job. That plus an eclectic range of products to sell in cask, keg and can.

Your challenge is to build the sales function from the ground up. You design the sales strategy, calling on your knowledge and networks in the London On-Trade. You deliver that plan, cultivating a reputation for good service and developing a target-hitting team.

It’s an ideal move forward for someone who can demonstrate good line management experience – someone who enjoys getting stuck in and leading from the front. You’ll be the face of Truman’s in the On Trade with full P&L responsibility for IFT, Wholesale, Leased & Tenanted and Managed; in time, you’ll develop the Off Trade as well.

Provided you're analytical and commercial, we're open minded to where you’re working now. If you’re coming from a bigger brewery, you’ll really enjoy the focused, family feel. Or you might be with a similar-sized company and looking for the chance to make more of a personal impression.

Either way, if you love sales and you love beer, this is a job where you’ll look forward to coming into work and doing it your way.
